The Cabo Verdean Fest aka “CV Fest” is brought to you by AFRO ELEVE11, and is intended to celebrate and elevate Cabo Verdean culture through music with its diaspora and friends of Cabo Verde in New England. The event will allow families to extend birthdays and other life’s milestones celebration into the weekend while reconnecting with extended family members and friends in a unique cultural event.

Suzanna Lubrano - Biography

• Suzanna Lubrano is a popular female pop artists in the Lusophone (Afro-Portuguese) markets.

• Suzanna is primarily a pop artist, although her pop music clearly has its roots in traditional Cape Verdean music culture. She is often named the Diva of Zouk Love, or the Diva of Cabo Zouk, referring to the type of music that brought her fame in her core markets: Zouk Love and Pop Coladeira.

• Suzanna’s music is also popular among the fast growing multicultural Zouk/Lambada dance scene across the globe.

• Suzanna Lubrano has released five solo-albums so far: Sem Bo Nes Mund (1997), Fofo (1999), Tudo Pa Bo (2003), Saida (2008) and Festa Mascaradon (2009) .

• In the United States the Saida and Festa Mascarado album will be available as a donble disc as from late may 2009. The album is released by mass Appeal Entertainment and distributed by Koch.

• Suzanna has received many Gold and Platinum albums in the Lusophone market.

• Suzanna is the winner of a Kora All African Music Award for Best African Female Artist, in a televised event (held in Johannesburg, South Africa) watched by hundreds of millions of people in Africa and beyond.

• Suzanna is the winner of a number of Cabo Music Awards.

• Suzanna has two number one hits in the Netherlands in the urban charts of The Box (MTV Networks) and FunX Radio, the Netherland’s leading urban radio station. It was the first time Cape Verdean language songs and non-English and non-Dutch language songs reached the number one position in the charts of The Box. Suzanna’s 2009 single, Festa Mascarado, has entered various charts in the Netherlands and has rotation on TMF/MTV.

• At one point, the Top Ten Playlist on Angola radio contained five of Suzanna’s songs.

• Suzanna’s 2008 album (Saida, 2008), brought her several Top Ten hits in various African charts, including the songs Taxi, Fiesta, Saida and Bai.

• Suzanna has two songs in the All Time Latin Top 100 of 2008 in the Netherlands, selected by listeners of FunX Radio, and is one of only three, as well as the highest positioned, Cape Verdean artist(s) in that chart.

• The Government of Cape Verde awarded Suzanna for her international achievements. Suzanna has received a Diplomatic Passport from the Government of Cape Verde, and is the Godmother of the TACV (Cabo Verde Airlines) Boeing operating the airline’s major route from Cape Verde to Boston (United States).
